Thanks again for the information! I met with the specialist about the defibrillator, who is strongly pushing for it. I mentioned all of your recommendations, and was told that my dr had already taken these measures---since I didn't meet with my actual dr. I'm not really sure what was actually done. I had some lab work done back in May, but I thought it was to check kidney/liver levels due to the meds.
Do you know of any specialists in the Atlanta area, or surrounding states that specialize in PPCM?

I work with Emory University Hospital (EUH) and Emory University School of Medicine, Dept of Pathology, for much of the laboratory investigation of PPCM that we carry out. I don't know the cardiologists, but some of the USA PPCM information is based on studies of PPCM patients coming to EUH. You might want to make inquiries of their Department of Cardiovascular Diseases and Heart Failure Clinic. You can always request a copy of your records for complete listing of laboratory tests already done.

So far as the ICD, it is a minor procedure to obtain it, but it has potentially major benefits in the case of the bad rhythm (v fib). With an EF of 25 percent, I think it is great to have that tool available, which it never is for me and my colleagues working with Haitian PPCM mothers.

I am going Monday 10/8 to meet with a cardiologist at EUH. I just want a second opinion on my condition.
