My baby was 6 days old when I was dx with PPCM. So I am wondering would this have been developing during my last part of preg. and how much of the preg. I was down to 15-20 ef at dx and lungs full. Would laying in labor with a high BP, being given fluids and sent home still in labor 3 times in the last week have anything to do with it, or could it? We are going to try to get compensation for my daughters seizures but first I need to try to find out if it is possible the PPCM caused it instead of her vaccines. Any ideas?

Marissa, winning a PPCM lawsuit is an arduous road because you have to prove the delayed diagnosis actually harmed you permanently, etc. While the delayed diagnosis may have made you sicker, most lawyers will tell you that is impossible to say if it made your EF worse.

I haven't been following your story....when did your daughter start to have seizures ? When she was born, were her Apgar scores, etc. lower and did she have any trouble.

There have been a few who have successfully pursued a case though. My story sounds a lot like yours except no problems with my daughter. A lawyer friend of mine who specializes in malpractice said that since I had no permanent problems and they could not prove that early diagnosis would have prevented an EF slide, I really had no case.

We are trying to prove that the vaccines are what caused her problems but at this point my attorney wants me to find out if it is possible that the PPCM caused it. He doesn't want this to bite him as a defense. Here score was 9. something I forgot. She had possible seizures after birth within a few weeks but they were so minor it could have been baby quirks. She was dx with Infantile Spasms and Schitzencephaly. Her seizures that were real bad started after her shots. Her is her story.

Child started having minor tensing of the legs and arms in the begging of October whitch we thought were just baby quirks, it is now beleived to have been minor seizures. They continued to get worse until in mid November she was constantly crying and tensing every few hours. She received another set of shots on 12/01/04. On 12/3/04 I was at my doctor's office when she had a spell, my doctor seen it and said it was seizures, by this time they were so bad that she was either asleep or having a seizure. My doctor sent us over to her doctor who put her on Femabarbitol.By 12/20/04 they were still present and we were sent to Wake Forest Baptist University. A follow up appointment was made for 1/3/05 at this visit she was put on Lamictal wih some seizures still present. On 1/06/05 she was hospitalized to start Dilantin because of out of control seizure frequency. On 1/14/05 she was started on Ativan because frequency of seizures was still high. She is currently on Lamictal and Dilantin. Her 2 month well check on 9/28/04 shows we had rolls over one way, communicates by cooing, grasps small objects, watches objects moved acroos in front of face, and brings hands together. We no longer have rolls over and she is just now trying to do the other things again. Her 4 month well check on 12/1/04 shows she holds head steady when upright, laughs out loud,no head lag, raises chest while on stomach using arms for support, lifts head to 90 degree angle while on stomach, bears weight on legs when held in standing position, follows ob jects moved side to side, along with her acheivements showed on her 2 month well check. She is currently in Physical and occupational therapy to try to restablish these things she no longer does. She has very bad head lag and doesn't crawl and holds her hands in fists along with the lists of things above from her 2 well checks that she no longer does. I have medical records to support these details.
