Dr Fett, I am wondering about the Toprol tablet, My heart doctor had me on 23.75 mg tablet once a day, and I notice other people are on 150mg a day why is there such a big difference and what effect does this have. angel hugs christine

Are you just starting out or was this your max dose ?

I assume you are on the long-acting Toprol (metoprolol), and your dosage would be a starting dose, the dosages are titrated for tolerance, things like heart rate, blood pressure. So just work with your physician as he/she individualizes the dosage just for you.

Hi Susan, I started on half of that when I was first diagnosed then about 1 week later they doubled it to a full tablet which is 23.75 it says on the box that each tablet is modified release and yes it says metoprolol Dr Fett.
