Hi all,
My husband and I are TTC and I was just curious as to when is the earliest that you can take a home pregnancy test?
Just curious - not feeling so "right" but, could all be in my head!!!! I'm feeling really bad headaches and my hands are just a tad bit puffy and I'm REAL tired - but, it could be anything.
Thanks,
Kari

The standard line in the OB office was the first day of you missed period. I would recommend EPT. I was able to find out all 3 times within the first week of my missed period. I hope you feel better soon!

It depends on the kind of test you buy. Even the most sensitive ones can only accurately detect the pg hormone 4 day before your period is due.
When you buy them, be sure it says how many days early you can test.
Good Luck!

This once is funny the Wal-Mart brand is very sensitive..I was only 10 days past conception when I had a VERY Faint positive..
The rule of thumb is 12-14 days after Ovulation.

I used First Response Early Detection and it claims you can find out as early as 5 days before your period but it all depends on the amount of hormone and when you ovulated. I was able to find out 3 days early but it was a VERY faint line! Good luck, can't wait to hear whether or not this is your month!

Interesting ladies, thanks for the info. When I was pregnant with Sarah, it was a complete suprise and I was (4) days late, took the test and it showed immediately. Now, I'm trying, and dying to know! I bought the "1st Response" test and took it today for SH** and Giggles and it came out "NEGATIVE." Which is no suprise b/c my period is not due until the 17th! The packet had (2) tests in it, I'm going try the other one this weekend! Keep your fingers crossed....I'll let you guys know.

Kari, Good luck! Just remember that 1st Response (the 5 day prior to period) is only accurate in just over 60% at the five day mark. Each day after that the accuracy increases. I would suggest that if you are doing it early that you do it with your first urine in the morning. That is when your hormone levels would be at the highest.
