I am not getting any answers on this and I am curious. I have only had abnormal EKGS at DX when I was having PVCs and a heart rate of 120-150. Other then the PVCs at DX I have had normal EKGS. Till recently when I was having right chest/arm pain. The pain only lasted one day. The Dr (clinic dr) said I had slight abnormality on my P-Wasves. What does that mean? Is it something I should be concearned with? Do people with PPCM or cardiomyopathy have this problem on their EKGs?

Most people with PPCM have either a normal EKG or a non-specific abnormality, from which no diagnosis can be made. The p-wave variation, while it may be seen, is also non-specific. Of course we are always looking for abnormal rhythms that may be seen, because in the acute stage they may need specific treatment. But the exam of most importance in PPCM is the echocardiogram with left ventricular size and function data.

Thank you Dr Fett for your response. My last echo I was placed at 55% and that was back in Oct. I am unsure of my heart size. My echo 3 months dx went from 35% to 50% but my doctor said my heart size was still very enlarged. I am hoping to have insurance by Sept so I can receive another echo. Is the abnormal P-wave something of concearn that it needs to be evaluated ASAP?

No, I don't think so. All of your info sounds good. Left ventriculr heart size often lags recovery of EF.
