I have been talking to another PPCM poster about chronic headaches and we seem to think there may be a correlation to our heart meds. Does Coreg tend to make headaches/migraines worse? I used to be on Toprol XL and my headaches nearly disappearred. Since switching to the Coreg, my headaches have gotten much worse. I have asked my neurologist about taking Toprol and Coreg at the same time (Toprol for headaches and Coreg for heart) but he said to ask the cardiologist and the cardiologist recommended taking Imitrex (which only stops a headache once it has started, it doesn't prevent them like Toprol). Anyway, I haven't been able to get a clear answer from anyone on whether these two meds can be taken together. Do you know if someone can take Coreg and Toprol at the same time? Do you know where I could look to get information on whether these drugs can be used together?
Thanks,
Mindy

Sorry, Mindy, I can't help you re the best Rx for migraines. I do think it would not be a good idea to take both Toprol and Coreg together, that would give too much beta-blocker effect. However, I think you could find a good combination that would help to reduce the migraines and still be what you need for heart.

Mindy,

sorry to butt in here, but maybe it's not your beta blocker? When I was in the hospital (and pregnant) I was on different medicines than I am on now. One of them, which I can't remember, but was not a beta blocker, gave me awful headaches, and the nurses forewarned me about them.

Tylenol always took the edge off, but the headaches didn't go away until I came off that med.
