I saw the EP last week for my tachycardia. He said as far as the PPCM, it looks like heart is recovered and "normal" as long as I don't have another pregnancy. He said my heart rate is probably due to 2 things.
The cardiologist said a couple of things.
1. My BP is too low, it was 80/50 at the office. That is causing my heart rate to increase to make up the difference. He stopped my Enalapril and I have been running 100/70. He said they may have to put me on medication to increase my BP especially if they have to raise my dose of Coreg
2. He thinks I have POTS, postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome. He can't technically diagnose me because since it is a syndrome you have to rule
everything else out first, and they can't absolutely rule of the diabetes causing it but I have had several tests, a tilt and ANSCORE that say it is not diabetic related. He also says that since I have no other problems with diabetes, so it is unlikely to cause only heart problems. Basically it means when I am standing my heart rate raises inappropriately. Ralph said barrow receptors sense if you are getting enough blood and tell your heart what to do. They think mine doesn't get the signal that I am getting enough blood, so my heart rate speeds up. Compounding this is my BP though.
So, well see how I do off the enalapril, and then re-evaluate. I may have to go up on Coreg to lower my BP more. I have noticed when I am up and around that my Bp is still running right at 100.
The best thing is I feel the EP listened to me. He works mostly with younger patients and is more in tune with wanting you to feel well and function at a normal level, not like some 80 year old.

Tami- it's nice when you find a doctor you click with , isn't it? I think you'll feel better off Enalapril. I had really low BP on it too and was SO tired. Good luck! Julie

My hr and Bp are doing the exact same thing and I was toold the same thing. Took off of Enlapril and may have to increase my dose of Coreg but my hr has been running around 130 and since I have been off of it for just a couple of weeks now it is down to around 100 again.
