Regarding the PPCM Registry through LDS and Utah Affiliated Hospitals, the initial evaluation has been completed. A few potential genetic variables have been discovered that may be involved in PPCM, and in the next phase of the study, they hope to confirm the scientific validity of and verify the results with other samples.
Participants will be contacted when results become available. Unfortunately, all these things take time, and it's difficult to predict how much longer it will be, but things are definitely progressing. Researchers hope to gather and process results as quickly as possible.
Very importantly, they are still looking for women diagnosed with PPCM who have not already participated in the registry/study. It is vital to increase numbers of registrants in order to strenghten verification and evidence.
I'm waiting for additional information regarding whom to contact if you want to get involved, and as soon as I hear, I'll post and let you know. If you have any questions at all about the registry and study, please post here or email me at martineau.erin@gmail.com. If you email me, please put "PPCM Registry" in the subject line to differentiate it from junkmail.
The researchers express sincere gratitude to those of you here who have already registered with the study.
Here is some information about this for those who are interested in participating: http://www.amothersheart.org/members/showthread.php?t=4996.
Thank you!
