I just posted a reply on another thread ab this, but I thought I would start a new thread so maybe more of you would see it and provide some help :)

I know everyone says the heat and humidity bothers them now with PPCM...

But, I was wondering if there is anyone that had asthma before PPCM that has gotten worse since PPCM or didn't have it before and now does.

What did your docs give you for it and what helps?

My doc gave a "special" inhaler that isn't supposed to have as many heart racing effects etc, but I've been too scared too use it. I haven't had an asthma attack, but I can feel my chest getting tight and my throat sometimes, and it would be nice to be able to use it...but I'm a worry wart, so I haven't yet.

Have any of you, or can you give other suggestions? It seems there usually at least 1 person that can identify with any given situation on this board, so I'm hoping for help on this one too :)

Thanks ya'll!

OK......I got seasonal Asthma, that means for me that I get it for a couple of weeks in May.....which is right now :( due to oak pollens. Before it was something that just came and went as expected and I did not worry much about it, now, that I have been diagnosed with PPCM I wonder about how it could put extra stress on the heart. As far as the inhalers go and the racing heart....... I know what you mean. I try to avoid them, because they make me feel so sick......and they drive my blood pressure up as well. Now the two weeks are over quickly, but my husband has Asthma all the time. He has found a preventative inhaler that works so well for him that he does not have to use the emergency kind that makes the heart race anymore. Maybe you could talk to your doctor and see if there is something to prevent the asthma symptoms for you. My husband is taking Advair, but I understand that there are other kinds that should be tried out first. I took Intal before and it took care of all my symptoms (no racing heart, it is a preventative), but it made my chest feel sore for months, which is why I decided to rather avoid too much outdoors exposure during those few days and then I am fine.
