2008 awareness of PPCM includes the good news that the best conventional treatment of pregnancy-associated HF includes diuretics, ACE-Inhibitors (ACE-I) postpartum or hydralazine/nitrates antepartum, and beta-blockers (B-B). ACE-I and B-B not only improve hemodynamic function but also help to reverse the immune system dysfunction that occurs with PPCM. This leads to survival and improvement in almost all PPCM patients and to apparent full left ventricular (LV) function recovery in well over 50 % of patients.
