We just found out that we are expecting. It is still very early..(4 weeks) but we are so excited. My concern right now is that I have a little spotting, just a smidge, and I am concerned. Did that happen to anyone else during their pregnancies? I have read that it is fairly common and about 80% of women experience some spotting in the beginning. I was just wondering if this is true. Any info would be great. Thanks

Hi Karen, Congratulations!! Yes, I spotted with all three of my pregnancies, nothing significant, brownish in color, barely enough to notice at times. Try not to worry (easier said than done), but yes spotting does happen in some pregnancies without any complications. Good luck! Hope you are feeling well.

Spotting early in pregnancy can be from implantation of the egg, old blood making its way out, etc. If was accompanied by cramping that you felt worried about, bright red blood with heavier flow, etc then I would suggest to call your dr.

It sounds like you should be fine :)

A Huge Congrats!!!!!

Hi Karen- Congratulations!!! Try not to worry too much about the spotting. If you cramp and spot and the spotting is heavy or bright red, call your doc. I spotted for 10 weeks with my first and all was fine. I got a few extra ultrasounds to be sure though. With this one, (I'm 17 wks now) I spotted too. All is fine - relax and try not to worry too much just keep an eye on it. That's great news- let's keep each other updated with our pregnancies!! Julie

Awwwe, congrats Karen! Another exciting post PPCM pregnancy. I'm so happy for you! As for the spotting, I spotted in the beginning with one of my pregnancies also and all turned out well. I remember being so worried about it too, and it turned out to be nothing at all. So, try not to stress too much and enjoy the rest of your exciting pregnancy.

Thanks you guys for all of your advice...it has really helped calm my fears. It seems the spotting has stopped, it lasted only 2 days, so I am very thankful!! Once again thanks for the expertise!! :)

Karen,
Congratulations!! I am glad everything seems to be better with the spotting now! I had implantation bleeding with my second pg but it was before I found out I was pg. I have heard of others spotting during pg and everything turned out just fine. I am sure you will be just fine as well!

I had implant spotting with 2 of the 3 kidlets! If you start bleeding bright red and cramping lay down and call your doc. Congrats and prayers are flowing for you and your family for a healthy pregnancy and mommy! Yeah!

Congrats on your pg!

I had spotting with this pg all the way through to the 3rd trimester, when it finally stopped. It was heavy enough at about 9 weeks that I was sure something was wrong... all has been fine though, and they never did find the source of it. As long as it's not bright red and accompanied by lots of cramping, you should be fine!
