I got the *official* letter today that I am accepted into Nurse Practitioner School !!!! I am excited, thrilled, relieved, scared, nervous and thinking I am crazy all at once, LOL ! This is the perfect time in our lives to do this, but I've never been a good one for a lot of change.
My ultimate goal is to one day work in a cardiology clinic working with CHF patients and CAD patients. I want to do more aggressive risk factor management and patient management.
Anyway.......had to share.

Susan,
WOW..that's huge! Good for you. I know you'll do well (you have a passion)...I love your goals! If I had to do it all over again, I tell my husband daily that I'd go into healthcare. It's such a noble and rewarding profession.
Toot that horn..GIRL...you earned it.

Susan, this is a great message. Congratulations!!! I love to read you are doing so well. After your story on the nurses site (about skiing) you are a sort of model for me (there were so many similarities between your story and mine, the only difference is the time it started). So I'm really glad to hear your life is going on in such a positive way.

I just want you all to know how much your congrats and inspiring words mean to me !!! Besides my husband and a smattering of friends, no one else is excited for me/us at ALL and it's driving me crazy.
My Aunt (who has her PhD in nursing and I *thought* would be excited for me) was clearly miffed that I'm not following in her footsteps to be a professor and asked me "you aren't going to move somewhere far away now are you ? "
My mom thinks my husband is putting me up to this so he won't have to work @@ (long story there, let's just say he is far from shiftless ! He is an engineer and jobs are being outsourced at an alarming rate...so one of the smaller reasons I am doing this is so we have a backup plan with a solid income. But again, that is NOT the reason I'm doing this); my brother (the MD) immediately asked if I was "going to be one of those nurses who doesn't know their scope of practice." I'm thinking he had a bad day with one of the CRNA's in their practice; and then finally, my in-laws have all but said I'm crazy and am biting off more than I can chew DESPITE the fact that I will be working just ONE shift a week and much of the classwork is distance learning or internet classes (at least until clinials). Completely overlooking the fact that I can study and do papers at home while DD is in school.; my coworkers are happy, but not so happy that they are losing a friend and colleague of 9 years and will undoubtedly have to train someone to take my spot.
So whew ! Thanks for listening to all of that. It's nice to come here and see that people understand and think it's great.

Susan.... Thanks, I received my schedule in the mail today along with the signature page for the scholarship through the hospital. Wow, I am really going through with it. I also did my FAFSA and loan entrance stuff. that is why I am online and not cleaning my house,LOL. I have to work tomorrow night so everything has to be done.
I know you can do it. Hey, I am still having trouble being on my own sometimes. But I love being in the OB area. I still want the nursery, but seeing all the problems pregnancy causes, not just PPCM, keeps me interested. Wow, why do women have children?????? I also dont get why the teens who have babies and problems end up pregnant so soon after, dont they remember the hell they went through. It all baffles me.
