Swelling...

For the past two days my ankles and fingers have been swelling. I am even feeling that "tight" feeling in my eyes! (I swelled so much in my face during my pregnancy, that my eyes felt tight). My BP seems OK and my heart rate is a little fast. My last EF was 55! I am almost 2 years post DX and have been doing fine. I have been off meds since I think November.

Do any of you swell for other reasons? I never have. I don't have periods any more because of my IUD. I have been VERY stressed lately...

I don't know if I should call my doctor or not.

I swell in my fingers and ankles when it is really hot outside for the first time of the year and before my period. I would call the nurse and ask what she thinks. My doc always said swelling in the feet and ankles more than fingers. Check your weight and make sure you havn't put on more than 3 pounds in 2 days. If so it could still be nothing but I would encourage you to call just to make sure. I hope you feel better soon! Keep us posted.

I have lasix (furosemide) to take "as needed." What you're describing is an "as needed" situation for me.

Might be a little extra fluid. Maybe you got too much sodium, or maybe your body just decided to hold on to some water this week. Good idea to get rid of it before it becomes alot of extra fluid.

How old are you? When I turned 30, everything started going to heck, really. My left leg swelled when it was hot and my doc said it was because I crossed my legs and "as we age" you don't move fluid around as much. Even when I was in the hospital having the fluid pulled off, my left leg was more swollen than my right and they did a LENI (lower extremity ultrasound I think) on me.

I think I would call though, especially if you can't think of anything like 6 slices of pizza or a really hot day. Just to be safe.
