I feel bad about wanting to get a second opinion, but I beleive I am going to have to, I talked to my cardio today and when I mentioned my medication he said I should not be on a beta blocker at all and he also said that if my EF is 51% that my heart has healed, he then continued to tell me that maybe my tach. was there before my condition)(which I very well know was not) I would have been fine with that, but he then said he needed to do a holter and an echo(both of which were done within the last 4 months) and I wondered if he even looked at the results because he acted like he didn't know I had them done. do you think I should get a second opinion because I feel as though he may be brushing me off or thinking I am overreacting, but I know something is still not right.

Second opinions are often helpful, especially if you have unanswered questions. You are now almost 2 years post-diagnosis, and twice--at one year interval-- your EF has been above 50, so that is most encouraging. If you are still having rhythm problems ("tachycardia" or palpitations) that may speak in favor of your having anti-beta1 adrenoreceptor antibodies present yet at this date, which are best treated with a beta-blocker, either metoprolol long-acting or carvedilol. Yes, I think a review by another cardiologist would probably be helpful to you. Above all, you need to be satisfied, and I wish you the best.

He ordered two tests that had *just* been done ? Those are pretty expensive tests. What did he say when you reminded him they were JUST done ?

How frequent is your SVT ? Mine was quite infrequent (maybe twice a year), but when I would go into SVT it was sustained and only adenosine could get me out. My Dr. gave me the option of a high dose beta blocker (it was taking 100 mg of Toprol XL per day to keep me out of that rhythm) OR the option of an EP study and an ablation. I chose the ablation and have been quite happy with the results.

A second opinon can be a good idea to help with those unanswered questions.

I am a strong believer in second opinions.
You should *always* get a second opinion, not just when you feel the doctor may be lacking in some way.

He said he must have forgotten and brushed it off
