Dr. Fett,
What is your experience or knowledge of Coreg CR? I understand it is new. I asked my cardio about it yesterday, but they want to hold off on trying me on it as they're increasing my dose to 37.5 bid.

Just curious....

I don't have any experience using Coreg CR. I suppose it works just fine, just like the Toprol-XL. I should think either way would work, and that the main difference may be increased cost for the CR.

You might start with your insurance company...it is more expensive and mine doesn't cover it at all. The dosage is also a little different. My doctor said give it time, it will get cheaper and eventually insurance companies may cover it.

There was at least one person on the DCM board who had switched to the CR version, but had lots of trouble with BP issues and went back to regular Coreg.

I, personally, have no experience with it. But, I've read a couple of other peoples experiences on another board I'm on, and they've said they've noticed decreased side effects compared to the regular coreg.

I'm trying to hear from people too who are on the CR. If the side effects are less, then I'm all for trying it - if I can get my doctor to agree.

I am on my 3rd month of the coreg cr and i love it!! I had a very hard time on coreg with memory and fatigue and had to stop and go to toporal so when cr came out i decided to try it and i have no side effects at all and have more energy!!! So i would tell anyone that has had problems on coreg to try the cr ps you can go on there web site and get a free 30days of it.

Coreg CR is awesome!! I took the regular Coreg in the hospital, and it totally knocked me out. They switched me to Coreg CR, and it was MUCH better. I take it at night though--still makes me drowsy. Also, I went from 20 to 40 mg recently, and that really through me for a loop for about a week, but I got used to the higher dosage. Anne--40 is not the same as 25!!

Anne,

Sorry, I wasn't clear. I was trying to say that there is a lower dosage of Coreg CR than 40 mg. I was on 20 mg Coreg CR when I got out of the hospital, and a few weeks ago I went up to 40 mg.
