Dr. Fett,
I am just wondering if you may have come across this with any of your patients. I thought it was just me, but on another website I visit, 2 people have complained of the same symptoms.

I have pain or a discomfort in my left side. It feels like it's under my ribs and predominantly in the back, but it is also on the side and can be felt in the front. Sometimes I get this same discomfort on the right side as well. It's almost like a cramp.

I first noticed it when I was pregnant and thought it was muscular, so I did P.T. That didn't relieve it. I mentioned it to one doctor who said it could be kidney stones, but my urine was fine. I've been checked for blood clots and none were found.

Do you have any idea as to what this is? Even if you don't know, at least I know of a couple of other people who are experiencing the same thing, so I know it's not "in my head."

Thanks.

Sorry I can't be of much help. It is very common for PPCM patients to have pain from a variety of sources: congested abdominal organs such as liver and spleen, pleurisy (lung linings), chest wall, legs and veins, lung congestion. As time goes along they all resolve, and that is what I hope for you.

Congestion as in water retention? I took a lasix today, have lived in the bathroom and I am feeling so much better!! My side pain is gone.

I'll have to try to keep track of it and see if it goes together.

Thanks.

I Have Suffered From The Same Thing Recently Pain Under The Rib Cage Left Side And In Back Under The Rib Cage. I Was Wondering About That Too. Rib Pain. Not Deep Pain But Under The Bone.
Please Let Me Know How Your Doing.

Does the pleurisy feel like a stitch or cramp on inspiration?? I have had this very same thing for a few days on my right side. What do they do for pleurisy???

Pleurisy is more serious because it could mean irritation of the lining of the lung and chest cavity due to a blood clot (embolus). But yours does not sound like pleurisy. It sounds like musculoskeletal pain from ribs, ligaments, muscles. Very common.

everyone dismissed it but sometimes it hurts quite a bit. I guess it is just another one of those special ppcm things.

Does it bother you more when you bend over or take a deep breath, like a stitch in your side? How long did it last? Mine has been bugging me for almost a week now and I'm wondering if I should get an xray or something!

Mine Had Been Consistently Off And On For Amonth But Is Musc Better Now
I Am So Glad To Have Found Others With The Same. Not Glad For Your Discomfort, Of Course, But At Least I Found Others With It . Doctors Made It Sound As If It Were Was In My Head. And Diagnosed Me With Anxiety Disoreder. And Recomended Me To A Shrink. Its Good To Know I'm Not Alone And It's Not In My Head. They Don't Take Me Serious.

I had something like that it would shoot through to my back. It was...gas. LOL I take a tums or something like that and it goes away. I get it every now and then....something like an acid reflux type of thing I think..sometimes it kept me from sleeping. It it constant or comes and goes?

I don't know what to make of it. I thought I pulled a muscle but it hurts just on my right side where the bottom of my lung would be. If I take a deep breath it hurts about half way through the breath. It's been almost a week and it's driving me nuts. Pulled muscle..that I can deal with...lung issue (had previous pulmonary emboli, not fun), hoping not. But this post made me feel a bit better.
I'll give it another few days then I'll have to deal with it more aggressively I suppose. Thanks for your help ladies!!! Tammy
