I don't think I've seen any posts about how your transplant doc visit went.

Everything ok??

Dear Serena and fellow recoverers!!! Thanks for the inquiry. I had my visit on Thursday and Friday I went to visit a friend about 2 hours away and stayed until late Saturday. So I am bit behind...

The appt. was at UVA. I was a little nervous but had really prayed for and received peace beyond my own capabilities. The environment was very pleasant, which is a good start. The doctors were great. One interviewed me and then took my hx to the head doc who then came to see me. They were both great and full of good humor, which I found refreshing.

The visit itself was great. He said I need time to let the meds "marinate" in my system. I have only been on Coreg about 2.5 months and had a major set back so my care has not been constant or good since dx. So I am technically 6 mos. post dx but as far as treatment, I was just turning the 3 month corner. He did say what we have all heard at one point or another (a great reason to be thankful for Deidre's last post) that what you are at about 6 months is usually what you will be. I did not argue but left it at that. They look into an ICD placement in 3 months if I have not improved. I am praying for that jump in recovery to get that to be a non-issue. As for transplant, I told him I would not need one and he thought that was great. hahaha! They were amazed that I am alive to tell my story after all that happened.

So Serena, the visit was good. No big news but to keep on doing what I am doing. The best part was that the staff was so good to me. No tension whatsoever. For that I am very thankful. I left the visit and went to eat and have some recovery time and then shopping which made it all better!!! hahaha.

Thanks girl for checking in with me. I am so thankful for this site and for those like you who really care and understand since they have been there before.

I hope all is well with you. Don't you give up or lose hope Serena. I am still rejoicing over your recent recovery milestones. Keep on! And still praying for more and more and more!

Sincerely,
Alison (momofthree)

Thank you, Alison. I think you're truely amazing, that you can be dealing with all that you are, and still have the capacity to care for the rest of us as deeply as you so obviously do.

I am with you. I don't feel I will need a transplant, either. I don't know exactly that I will one day be running marathons with an EF of 65%, but then again, I never really liked running anyway. ;)

Keep your wonderful attitude. I'm so happy that your visit was so stress free, and that you got the downtime you needed in the mall.

Next time we have to make a trip up to VA, I'd love to take you to lunch.

Praise God Allison! We have been praying for you here. My family has gotten to know you from what I have told them. We are so excited that you are happy with your treatment of the new team you were visiting with! Coreg does wonders! I just got pulled from 25 mg twice a day down to 12.5mg twice a day and taken off of my Ace Inhibitor all together! I am so excited! I give praise to the greatest healer! I know you join me in your own walk. I love your attitude! You are an inspiration! Huggies to you!
