Seems like I've been hearing about a lot of sick kids on the boards lately. Well, I think my oldest is going to be joining the category. He's had a runny nose all day today and was crabby as ever. He fell asleep before 9 P.M. and he very rarely ever does that. He's also feeling pretty warm too. I was wondering how many of you give your kids tylenol at the first sign that a fever may be starting. I've read that you aren't really suppose to "over use" the tylenol and you should only give it to them if they have a very high grade fever like over 100 degrees. Also, how many tablets do you usually give your kids? The bottle says to give him like 4 (80 mg) tablets because he's around the 50 pound range. That seems like an awful lot to me. I wonder why they don't just make higher dosage tablets or something.

50 pounds....Tylenol dosages

Children's Suspension liquid 160mg/5ml 2 teaspoons

Children's Soft Chews 80mg/rach 4 chews

Junior Strength Chewables 160mg/each 2 chews

I have all of this from pediatric nursing days. I think the Jr. strength is what you are after. Well wishes and prayers for you and fast healing.
