A question for Dr. Fett,
I noticed that your address here in the US is in Aberdeen, Washington. I live in Spokane, Washington which is just on the east side of the state. Any suggestions on how I could find a high-risk specialist to discuss my case? I would like to talk to someone before making a final decision about future pregnancies. Do you have any suggestions on where to look for someone in this area? I appreciate all of your help.
Thanks,
Mindy

Hi, Mindy. Although I live in WA, I'm not familiar with the Seattle specialists. On the West Coast the authority on subsequent pregnancies in PPCM is Uri Elkayam at UCLA, heads up a special heart failure unit. The reason I am in WA is that my last assignment with Indian Health Service/United States Public Health Service was to work with the Quinault Nation, a fishing tribe on the coast. My medical work is now limited to PPCM issues, and my only hospital association is with Hôpital Albert Schweitzer in Haiti. That's an arrangement that pleases me very much. My major contacts with physicians and researchers on PPCM are in Atlanta, Boston, Portland OR, Pittsburgh, South Africa, Haiti, London, Mayo Clinic (MN).
