Does anyone know of a charity for PPCM research, awareness, etc.? I have had several people ask so they can donate some $$$.
Thanks!

Shannon,
Check out www.hashaiti.org and www.karenswalk.com.
Also, A Mother's Heart is now incorporated. The non-profit and tax exempt status are taking a little longer than I anticipated (no problems, just waiting to hear back).
We will soon have a mission to raise money for an awareness campaign, first targeting health care providers through direct marketing tactics - then pregnant women through media outlets aimed directly to that segment (pregnancy magazines, etc...). While it is my hope that most of our funds can be derived from grants and contributions from corporations, individual contributions will be gladly accepted (and tax deductible) as well.
The technology and the medicine exists to treat us. What's lacking for most is the timely diagnosis.
Serena
PS - At the time of our official legal status change, you will see a huge change in the website. Full financial and goal-oriented accountability will be publicly disclosed, and fundraising sales will be added. No fear, the message boards will remain the same.

If you are interested in learning more about helping international collaboration on PPCM research, please consider the Pierre Paulette PPCM Fund of the Albert Schweitzer Hospital (HAS) of Haiti. You can learn more from their website on http://www.hashaiti.org. For example, in the past 5 years 23 (15 percent) of PPCM mothers in the HAS district died from their PPCM. Of those 23, not one ever received beta-blocker medication (and they all should have) because of lack of funds to provide the medication. Thanks for your consideration. You can also find more info on this board under the recent posting, "Press Release."
