Hey!

I was just wondering if the rest of you get sick really easy? I am sixteen months past diagnosis and I think I have been sick a gazillion times! Is it something to do with a compromised immune system? Just curious? Does it get better... please someone tell me it does!

I get sick all the time now. Even those around me have noticed it. If there's a stomach virus or cold bug flying thru, I catch it. I've missed more work this year due to cold/allergies and I can't seem to shake it. I used to NEVER get sick. I really do believe it has to do with our immune system too. Hang in there!

Ironically I have never been healthier than since diagnosis! I don't get colds as often and just feel generally better. That was even with my EF at 30 back at diagnosis.

I'd have to say I'm with Melissa. I've been quite healthy since diagnosis. I've seemed to be able to fight off illnesses just as normal as always. I think it may have something to do with working with children in the childcare/ daycare setting a lot and being exposed to a lot of germs (boogers, puke, poop, you name it). I think I may have built up some sort of immunity over the years.

Same here never got sick before but catch everything now even with an ef of 65. Don't know if it has sommething to do with a comprimised immune system but I have been wondering the same thing. I was told with a low ef I would catch everything but, I thought it would get better with a higher ef.

I join the group of the 'healthy' ladies. Since diagnosis I missed all the bugs my children were suffering from. Finally I caught one (last week, from my mother!), but I'm not feeling that bad. So I wondered maybe my immunesystem just got a positive boost from all the medication I use. Or it is just cos I am a stay-at-home-mom now. Before, I worked in a hospital and that is the place to be to catch something, but even then I wasn't very often ill.

I was *just* like you described for at least the 1st year after diagnosis...it slowly improved. I recently got REALLY sick (pnuemonia !) and stayed sick for 2 weeks but it was actually the 1st time I had been sick in 2 years, so I guess I was over due.

I've noticed that whenever I get what is going around the house, I tend to get it worse than any of the others.

My experience is similar to Susan's. I don't get sick frequently, but it seems that every time I do get a cold, it becomes bronchitis or pneumonia. I also think that doctors are more quick to diagnose something and put me on antibiotics due to my medical history. Though, I only go to the doctor when I am really sick.

Guess what girls, I just came down with this sinus thingy yesterday. I knew I shouldn't have posted on this subject (without knocking on wood three times), LOL.

Hi. I have not been sick with anything other than this whole heart thing since dx. I developed reflux due to all my vomiting when things were the worst and have had that to contend with but otherwise I stay healthy. My allergies are always there when the season changes here in VA, but when those around me had the flu I did not get it. When they got sinus infections I did not get it. I think all the vitamins, watching my diet and the fact that my body just does not desire anything else on top of it...hahaha...helps. Of course, I continue to go before God saying Help me! as I recover. I focus on healing and health so much that this really helps.
.
Sorry to hear you are struggling with illness, it is a drag. Hang in there and I believe it will improve. This season this past year was particularly a nasty one for colds, pneumonia, etc. Really nasty. Some say the tsunami stirred up so much junk and death and put it in the ocean and air, etc, tha everyone has been affected...including the weather.

Anyhoo, I hope you are much improved very, very soon.
