Dr. Fett,
My cardio doc said he will not let me go back to work at least untill end of summer. (dx 11/06) However I have not told him what my line of work is. I am a letter carrier and walk all of my route for a least 7 hours and also carry very heavy thing heavy lifting and walking a long distance with a very heavy mail bag Our job title also says we should be able to lift 70 lbs. I am a very small girl all of 5 ft. it is hard enough to do well and not have ppcm and the extreme weather conditions I deal with in the midwest are also very harsh. I was wondering what are some of the long term restictions for ppcm. I am thinking about another line of work might be in order for me.
Thanks in Advance
Devra

You describe a very vigorous occupation and I admire your hard work. I know that mechanisms are in place in the Postal Service to match physical requirements of the job with medical condition of employees. In that process your medical advice, based upon knowledge of all of your current clinical data, will best come from your providers and the recommendations they make. With full recovery from PPCM, which I anticipate you will have, you will be able to return to pre-illness level of function and capacity. Good luck to you.
