Question about EF

I went for my echo today and my ef is 51 my question is this is it normal for the ef to go down or fluctuate? Or can it be that when they did my echo before I was still on all my meds and then right after the results they stopped all meds. I know normal range is between 50 and 60ish so I am just curious. Also my heartrate is still high at 106 today I go wendsday for blood draws for thyroid and other tests but if all turns out normal, will they put me on a med to regulate my heartrate because they said they would like it to be between 60 and 80.

The good thing is you are still over 50 percent EF. One can easily see a variation of 2 to 3 points from one tracing to another, even on the same day. It is probable that part of your decrease reflects the rapid withdrawal of medications. I like to see a slower, gradual decrease of meds with the beta blocker (carvedilol) the last to discontinue. Whether you go back on a small dosage depends upon your symptoms and how you work it out with your cardiologist Best wishes.
