My daughter Christy had had many episodes of rapid heart rate and passing out. Earlier in the year her new cardio gave her a heart monitor for 30 days. There were many arrymythias caught and she was put on atenolol plus she takes digoxen 0.25. A couple of weeks ago she had severe cramping, vomiting and upset stomach on and off for a solid week. She got better and we kind of put it off as a virus or something of that nature. She called yesterday to tell me that she passed out three times Tuesday. Once when she was getting out of the car and the neighbor said her body was trembling she is not out very long and says her heart palpitates terribly afterward. She seems to think it is related to low blood pressure. She says the atenolol seems to control the palpitations any other time except when she passes out. Has anyone here experienced anything like this. Thanks so much. barbara

Hi!
I don't know if my situation is similar, but I was also having rapid heart rate and was passing out. Mine was due to low blood pressure (around 80/50 consistently). I monitored my bp and weight (to make sure I wasn't gaining) over a three day period per my dr's request. When my bp stayed low, he cut the doses of medications that I was on. I also experienced the nausea... my doctor said it was also a result of low bp. So... hope this helps! When all else fails... call the doctor! Hope it all works out.

I would definitely send her to her cardiologist. It could be low blood pressure, but it sounds more like arrythmias to me, unless it happens only when standing up quickly. If she were to pass out while driving or during other activities, she could easily kill herself or others. She should take this very seriously. I have an ICD, but it could be that a simple pacemaker could keep this from happening. This is very important! Let me know if I can help!
