One more time I come to you girls (and Dr. Fett) for lots of prayers and support. Hubby and I meet with our High-Risk OB tomorrow and I'm really getting nervous. We've agreed that this will be the decision that we follow. I pray that he tells us to hang in there for a little while longer and that pregnancy is possible. But, we also have to be realistic and realize that the verdict could go the other way as well.

I'll let you all know what he says.

Bernsteins article (Am J Perinatol 2001;18:163-168) comparing subsequent pregnancy in PPCM and DCM says, "Women with stable DCM may do well without significant deterioration in their cardiac status." Van Hoeven et al (Int J Cardiol 1993;40:57-65) compared the course of PPCM patients with IDCM patients, not anything about subsequent pregnancies. I think it depends entirely upon the level of left ventricular function (reflected by EF) going into the subsequent pregnancy. I would consider anything below 40 rather perilous.
