I am not sure if anyone is from anywhere near sarasota FL, where I live, but I am wondering if Dr. Fett or any member knows of any cardiologist in my area that has knowledge of PPCM because when I called around no cardiologist in my area had a clue and then they continued by saying "well all cardiomyopathies are basically the same and I have treated other types." Even if that is so I would really feel more comfortable with someone who has some idea of PPCM. Any help would be appreciated. I mean I don't mind driving to go either because now I am basically on maintenance so I don't mind going a little farther than normal. :p

It is true that conventional treatment of PPCM is the same as treatment of many other forms of dilated cardiomyopathies and heart failure, keeping in mind that PPCM requires special help in family planning including plans for a subsequent pregnancy. In Florida, there are about 200 new PPCM cases every year, something like one case per 1500 to 2000 live births; so it is not rare. One place that has access to experts in PPCM is Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville.
