About a month ago i had blood drawn and my dr told me my potassium was low and my magnesium was alarmingly high. so he prescribed potassium supplements and both have improved. problem solved, but the past 3 visits over 6 months he has told me that I was dehydrated. my meds are coreg 25mg 2 x a day, Hyzaar100/25mg 1 x a day and tricor. I am drinking lots of water. My doctor doesn't seem overly concerned. My bp also has been dropping low and leaving me fatigued if I have a busy day or too. it is normally 110/77 but can range anywhere from 96/55 to 130/90. my heart rate is in the 100-110 range. My Ef is presently 40-45% after 4 years. My 2 major questions are:
1. Is it normal to have such shifts in my bp sometimes within the same day and dips after busy times?
2. Is the potassium magnesium and dehydration problem a major concern?

Those are excellent questions, and ones for your provider to answer because they may require some change of medication, adjustment of dose, etc. Your BP swings are possibly quite normal for any given person in any given day. I am not familiar with the Hyzaar, but assume the 100/25 means that it is a combination medication and that the 25 is hydrochlorothiazide, a diuretic. At this stage you may or may not need a diuretic, or you may need it only in a self-titrated way when there are signs of excess fluid. If it is used for BP control, it may be that a smaller dosage would be adequate, since if you are "dehydrated" that could mean "over-diuresed", that is eliminating more fluid than you need to as a consequence of the diuretic, in which case you could be volume-depleted in your circulation, in which case you would notice more BP swings, especially to the low side.

Hi!
I know I am not a doctor, but I had this exact same problem two weeks ago! My blood pressure was so low I was nearly passing out every time I stood up... turned out that I was on too much medicine. I would talk to your doctor. Since I got my medication changed, I feel so much better. I am only on 12.5 mg Toprol and 5 mg. lisinopril. I have noticed a huge difference!
Hope this helps a little!

That happened to me and that is why they took me off the lasix, my bp was eratic and I was dehydrating myself because I had no excess fluid and I was taking off needed fluid..
They may need to take you off the diuretic or lower it..
