If you have an AICD manufactured by Medtronic and implanted in you between April 2001 and December 2003, you need to call your cardio. It looks like there is a problem with battery longevity, not an actual default in the device.
Has anyone received a letter or call from their Dr. about this ?

Thanks, Susan! Mine is a Guidant. At my last check, I still am "half full" in terms of battery life. Not bad after 3 years!
Thanks Susan. Mine is a Guidant as well. I have had it for nearly 5 years and have about one year left on the battery. I thought they lasted for 8 years without use, but I guess it is only about 6 years.

Susan.. Mine is a St. Jude and I just had a check up, no alerts, and only pacing less than 1%.
But it's nice to know somebody is looking over us with critical info like that.
thanks!

My boom box is a St. Jude Atlas. It would be weird to be told your ICD was being recalled! I think mine has about 2 more years on it, and it's been working for three and doing nothing but the occasional pace...thank GOD!
Thanks Susan!
