I've had a horrible headache since yesterday.. Tylenol with codeine NOT helping. :(

I called my OB's office and the stupid person who answers the phone told me to try laying in a dark room with ice on my neck (with a pair of 2 year olds climbing on me??) or take regular tylenol. This was after I tell her tylenol with codeine not helping.. basically she tells me I just have to suffer. She reluctantly gave the message to my OB. The scary thing is never did she ask me any questions about the other symptoms of preeclampsia.. which I don't have but how does she know that??

So now I'm waiting for them to call back and trying to not get too annoyed and Rachel and Christopher climbing all over me and sticking their arms and legs into my abdomen.

I hate being helpless. I just want to feel normal.. not fair.

Hoping you feel better soon.

When you do talk to your OB, make sure to mention the alarming lack of questions about your other pre-e symptoms. What if it was a first time mother with no clue about it calling in??

I feel so terrible for you right now. I suffer from chronic headaches and the pain is sometimes unbearable. You are right...it is so not fair! If you were not
pregnant, I would have all kinds of advice for you. I don't know what to do when your pregnant! My headaches nearly disappeared when I was pregnant, only to return after weaning my son. So, I didn't have to deal with those during my pregnancy. I hope the doctor calls you back to give you some advice. The only thing that has worked for me once in a while is drinking something with caffeine in it. Sorry, that is truely not much help. I do hope you feel better soon.

Praying for your headache to abate and for your kids to let you rest a bit. You shouldn't be on the computer with a headache either. So turn it off and rest. You should do as much as you can do for your headache too!

I know this probably won't help, but you never know. Have you tried drinking a Coke or Pepsi or something else with caffeine in it? That always helped my headaches better than Tylanol when I was pg last time. I am guessing this will not be strong enough for you, but thought I would offer it anyway. Hope you feel better soon!

I feel for you...............I suffer from migraines to the point where I vomid and cry cause the pain is so severe. Just last year I was told by my cardio and PCD that I can take Excedrin for migraines and 2 tylonel............I take 2 excedrins with 2 Tylenol and it relieves the severe pain within about 40 minutes. It works wonders and I would highly recommend it. I would just check with your doctors first. I carry a pill container in my purse at all times since it can hit me in a second no matter where I am and this way after about 30 minutes I can drive or walk to where I need too............Hope you are feeling better soon.

Laura,

I hope that your headache goes away. I find it also suprising that she did not ask you questions about high blood pressure. That could also have been a cause of the headache.

I echo JenniV's suggestion of caffeine. I have found that the combination of tylenol with codiene along with Pepsi seems to help.

Hoping they call you back soon,
Twilah

I've tried that in the past and it doesn't really help me because I don't usually drink caffeine so it's not a caffeine headache. Thanks for the advice though.

Now if I could get my daughter to stop screaming.. that might help..

I called back the doctor and this time they told me to come right over. This person seemed to realize there was a possibility i might have a serious problem.

The caffeine trick doesn't just work when it is a caffeine headache. I have heard of a lot of people (like Twila) that mix it with Tylanol and it seams to help. Who knows though, it still may not help you.

Are you feeling better at all?
