Hi,
I just wanted to update everyone now that I have had an OB and Cardiologist appt.
My heart is still functioning totally normal and my Cardiologist doesn't want to do any more Echos on me until a couple of days after the baby is born! He had told me at my last appt. that he would do one right before the baby was born but he decided today that it was not necessary since there has been no change in my heart function throughout the entire pregnancy!
I only have another 3 weeks until my C-section! :)
My OB appt. was fine, baby is measuring just about a week ahead now and my Dr. doesn't expect for him to be as big as dd was (8.8 lbs). He also said that if I go into labor at 36 weeks or after they will not try to stop it and will do my C-section early!! This week is my last week of work so I am hoping that I can hold out until the 26th so that I can have a nice break from work and some alone time with dd before the baby arrives.
I still find it hard to believe sometimes that I am about to have a baby since I had almost given up on the idea!
I will update again soon!

That's so encouraging, congrats to you. You know, when I read about situations like yours it kind of eases my mind a little bit about another pregnancy. I would absolutely love to have another baby but at the same time I'm scared to death of what could happen too. I don't plan on becoming pregnant any time soon, but if I read a few more posts like yours it just may change my outlook on things :) . Good luck!

Hi everyone. My name is April. In October of 2002, I gave birth to my first child. During my pregnancy I developed toxemia and gestational diabetes. I was so swollen my OB decided to induce at 35 weeks. During the delivery my BP was completely unstable...so after delivering my child I was put on meds to lower my BP. Three days out of the hospital, I entered the hospital with EF of 10-15% and an enormously enlarged heart. I stayed in the hospital for one week under heavy meds and returned home with an EF of 25-30%. It's almost 2 1/2 years later and I found out that I am 12-14 weeks pregnant. My cardiologist will not give me a definite answer to what to do. "It's up to you" he said. There is always a 50/50 chance of it reoccurring but all pregnancies are different. Reading your post gives me so much hope. I want my baby...but do not know what to do. God Bless and KEEP YOU!

WVMommy,
You need to do what is right for you and your family and no one should be telling you otherwise. The only thing that we can do is give you support and advice. There are many woman on these boards who have gone on to have another baby after pregnancy without another reoccurance. Carianne did have another reoccurance after having her second baby with PPCM but she is doing better now and her EF is around 50% if I am not mistaken. I think you should try to talk to your OB and see if they are recommend you to a high risk OB who has some knowledge of PPCM. Please keep us posted and remember that GOD is on your side and so are we.
