For those that have had or are going to have a post ppcm baby did you/will you take any meds at the time of delivery? I’m currently on Toprol XL 200 mg and 0.25 of lanoxin and I was told I would have to stop taking them before my c-section. If you did take any meds at the time of delivery did the baby have any side effects from it?

Thanks
Stacia

I was on Hydralazine, Digozin, Mag, about 4 different meds for allergies - and heparin (sp?) The heparin was stopped the night before the C-section and never re-administered. After the delivery I got the good drugs - the AceI and the BBs.

Stacia,
I am taking a small dose of a beta blocker (lopressor) and have been since I was 14 weeks pregnant.
My cardiologist & OB both say that it is safe for me to continue taking and that it will be OK for me to breastfeed. My Card wants to keep me on it for at least 5 months post pardum just as a precaution.
I am also taking a baby asprin a day as well and this one I have to stop taking at 36 weeks.
I think it really depends on the type of medication you are taking as to whether it is safe or not at delivery.
