Hey all,

I just saw the cardiologist. My heart rate was 104 bpm (he was a little concerned). He ran an EKG and he said it was normal just a bit fast. I see my ob/gyn tomorrow and the cardiologist wants his office to run tests on my thyroid / electrolytes / ??? I forget the third. CBC / TSH / BMET??????

Anyway, he doesn't want to see me for another 6 weeks.

Was it Complete Blood Count....I think this is a usual test even for women who don't have ppcm. I think it helps to determine blood volume too.
My ob ran the thyroid test during my initial blood workup....I know they took 9vials of blood. It was over $900 in bloodwork. Thank goodness for insurance.
It could have been anything to raise the heartrate like that. Mine normally goes up when I am at the dr's office or if they keep me waiting..
6 weeks is good...is that when you have another echo?
I had my first prego one today. A dr actually did the scan (not mine) and he said....Normal....looks normal. Go to the cardiologist on Monday.
Glad you're progressing nicely.

Kari - I hope that the high HR was a fluke. Mine is always increased at the doc's and I always tell them that. I think they know, as a general rule of thumb, that BP and HR are going to be increased just for the simple fact of being nervous to talk about your health. I wouldn't take it lightly in our cases but at least you know there is probably some normal fluctuation to a higher HR in the office. I would just monitor at home and if it is still in the "good/okay" range, then I wouldn't stress too much about it. I know, easier said than done, but relax and think positively...the power of positive thinking is amazing!!!

Take care of yourself and that baby. The light at the end of this tunnel is quickly coming upon you! Soon you will be kissing and holding that little one!

Hi all,

The results came back from my blood test - I'm slightly anemic. The Doc's think that's why my heart is beating so fast. I'm still waiting on the BNP results. I'll let you guys know as soon as they come in. So far, I feel great, can't wait to meet this little guy...I'm almost at 26 weeks. I guess it won't be too much longer. I just pray that I stay is healthy as I've been thus far.

Did they tell you why you're anemic? Did he give you anything to treat it? I was anemic after having Isaac and my cardio said last week that he thinks that was a pretty bid contributor to my heart problems...not that it caused my PPCM but with the pre-e, anemia, and BP complications, my little heart was probably ready for a vacation!

I'm still following you closely! Hope everything turns out great!

Hi Emily,

No, they haven't told me to do anything other than to take an iron supplement. I haven't even spoken to my OB/GYN - I had to hold for like an hour to get these results from his nurse. I'll see him on Thursday morning...i'll ask him.

So far everything is going very, very well! The baby is measuring 1 week ahead (27 weeks - he weighs 2 1/2 lbs), the pernatalist says that he looks great and if for some unforseen reason he'd have to be taken - he'd be just fine!!!! But, he'll stay put for another 9 weeks or so!

Take care of yourself.

Kari I am thinking of you! Anemia can be significant. I wasn't anemic with my first 2 girls but I was with my PPCM baby. My OB said it wasn't the reason for the PPCM but it didn't help it either. Consequently I am just hanging on from now being anemic. I have to take iron pills daily. We as heart patients must not be anemic. Too much extra work on the heart. Even with a great EF of 65% like mine. I also take B12 monthly! I am sure you are taking your prenatals and your iron everyday religously!! Take care and know I am praying for you and your little one!
