I have a question about BNP's can they predict how low your EF is?
When mine was checked when I went into HF is was 906 someone told me(DH's aunt who's a nurse) that my EF was possibly between 15-30% but the echo I had the day before was 40%..
I think she's full of it but wanted another opinion.

No, the BNP will not indicate what the EF is. However, higher levels of blood BNP are associated with more severe left ventricular failure.

She is misinformed about the diagnostic ability of the BNP test...it does not predict ejection fraction...but as Dr.Fett said it indicates the severity of the LV failure.

I just wanted to make sure I was right(she told me I was full of it) and that an Echo was one of the only ways to know the EF..I don't know if 906 is really bad but I do know that I had a leaking Valve also..
The more I learn about PPCM the more people try to tell me I am wrong..
