For those of you that had subsequent pregnancies, did you have hypertension? How many of you had a reoccurance of PPCM the second time around? Thanks Megan

I did not have hypertension with my second pregnancy but I did have a reoccurance. My ef went down to 40% at my 36 week echo and they took Mikey. I am now 10 mos post my second diagnosis and my ef is 60%. I wsa told absolulty NO MORE babies and had my tubes tied.. I am super fertile. If I knew my heart would have recovered so quickly maybe I wouldn't have ahd my tubes tied.. but I guess two is good..

I had PIH with my 1st pregnancy. In both my second and third pregnancies my BP rose over 30 points in both systolic and diastolic, but never went over 140/90. My doctors did start limiting my activities as if I had PIH.

I probably had PPCM with all three pregnancies, but went untreated with the first two. I also had a known EF of 43% at 12 weeks into my third pregnancy. My EF did deteriorate, but I was not treated with meds at all during the pregnancy.

My advice if you do decide to have another baby is to be closely monitored and to take meds as needed to maintain your EF function.

Twilah, How are you now? Recovered? What is your EF?

Nope. I didn't have hypertension the first time, and I didn't with my post-PPCM baby either.

My ef is now 45% nearly five years after the birth of my daughter (baby nnumber 3). My ef went as low as 7%. I will post my bio soon.
