Hi Everyone!
My name is Krista. I was diagnosed with PPCM on February 23rd, 2004. I was a surrogate mom for a mom with PPCM. My surro-twins were born at 32 weeks and were absolutely beautiful and healthy. :) It's hard to believe they are a year old now...time just flies by!
A quick little bio about me: I'm 35, SAHM, 3 wonderful kiddoes (11, 7, 4), I'm a nursing student in the evenings (part time LPN program), I love to scrapbook but don't have much time to do it anymore. My dh and I have been married for 13 years. We live in Ohio, I'm from Florida...I may talk my husband into moving there after I graduate! :) That's about it. I look forward to getting to know you all.
As for my health, I fully recovered from my PPCM. I was taken off all meds 6 months after my diagnosis. I've recently started having trouble again, loads of PVCs (which I've never had before), short of breath, fatiqued, tingling in my fingers occasionally. I had an echo this morning to see what's going on. I pray that it's nothing but harmless PVCs!! I am a little worried though. :(
If you have any questions about my surrogacy, please feel free to ask. :)
~Krista

Hi Krista! Glad you found us. I'm fascinated by your story, and how this could help us better understand how PPCM works.

Hopefully it's just general motherhood that has you feeling symptoms.

Welcome to the boards, you'll find many great women here.

It is great to see your name again on these new boards. It has been so long since we have heard from you. I hope that everything turns out okay with the ECHO and please let us know what the results are. You have to come around more often, when you have time and post with us.

Thanks for the warm welcome!
My echo showed a decline in my ef. It's now back to 45%. My cardiologist put me back on Coreg and Lisinopril. I'm a little relieved that how I've been feeling isn't a "new" heart problem. We know what we're dealing with now, the fear of the unknown is over. I had all sorts of scary things runnin' through my mind!

Krista,
Welcome to the board. What a selfless thing to do for another! What is scary is that you are at least the 3rd surrogate mom who was carrying a child for a mother who had had PPCM. There seems to be something there.... You should e-mail Dr. Fett with your story. I think he would be interested!

Natasha,
I've been involved with Dr. Fett from a month or so after my diagnosis. He has been so kind and helpful to me! :)

Welcome to the new boards! I, like many others, find it very interesting that you developed PPCM after being a surrogate. It also sounds like I've had the same exact symptoms as you (after being told I was "back to normal"). I'm sure you will see some good results after being on the meds again. Good luck and we'll be here.
