I went and had a manicure/pedicure tonight, and my usual girl was off. The lady who did me told me, in her very broken English, that I should see a doctor because my nails are so purple.

So how is it that a very YOUNG, immigrant worker, working a "low skill" job can be more astute than everyone in 2 OB/GYN practices and 2 ERs - all of whom have access to the worlds best technology?!?

Thank god for this girl. She may save a life one day!

Serena...I can't tell if you are being sarcastic or not ! Did she mean your nail beds are bluish ?

No sarcasm intended. She said "you nails purple. you see doctor."

I suppose it's my nail beds. When I have no polish on, you can look "through" my nails and it does indeed have a purple hue.

I was just blown away that she noticed, she knew it wasn't normal, and she cared enough to mention it. Wow.

You should go see your doctor. Not too scare you but when I was very sick They took my nail polish off in the Er and my nailbeds were blue/purple. I guess lack of oxygen? Maybe its okay my lips still turn blue when I'm cold ie... in the Pool and everyone mentions that but it's normal for me. Let us know

oh, I know it's not healthy. I'm teetering on the edge of a transplant list, and truthfully, am no healthier than I was so many times that I was face to face with doctors - and they didn't notice. "Nothing's wrong. You're just pregnant." or "you just <still> have pneumonia."

Yet this girl got it.

:( Have you done cardiac rehab? I'm saddened by your EF. :(

My EF dropped from 40 to 25 then 20. I lost a bunch of weight (w/o exercising) and it bounced back to about 30-35. I try to do cardio every now and then. I was so depressed thinking my weight loss wasn't helping (they didn't tell me for an entire year and I gained much of it back at that point), but know when I put my mind to it I can improve even more... after 11 years! Heart muscle is an amazing thing!

I did attempt cardio rehab, and it kicked my butt. My EF actually dropped back to 15% during my rehab, and I started having runs of Vtach every time my HR got above 60. My resting HR then was 48.
My ToprolXL was cut back after that, as well. I'm now on 150mg 1Xday and my resting HR is around 55-60. I take nice, long, slow walks, and do yoga and/or pilates 3 or 4 times a week.

I bet she blew you away! And you are right-she knew when the professionals didn't! My friends life was saved by our massage therapist-one month a mole was okay-the next month it had turned very dark-she told her to go to dr-was the bad skin cancer!

I am keeping you in my prayers!
