Has anyone ever tried to fight a medical bill? I was just wondering because, to make a long story short, I ended up with no results from a recent echocardiogram. I had the echo done at the hospital here (instead of at my regular cardiologist's office which is 5 hours away). I ended up with 3 different results from the person who read it here and so I had the tape sent to my regular cardios office and they couldn't even give me any results because my heart was beating so irregularly (bijemminy). So, now I owe around $500.00 to the hospital here (after insurance) and about $400.00 to my regular cardio's office (also after insurance) and I don't even have any real results. And they want me to come back for another echo in May. I can't afford to be doing this. I'm also not an argumentative or persuading kind of person. I'm afraid if I try to voice what I think, they are going to laugh in my face. I don't want to make anyone upset, especially my cardilogist since I really do think he is a great person. Should I pursue anything or just suck it up and make the payments?

I would definitly call and freak out...Give me their number and I will pretend i am you. HAHA! No seriously I would say something especially since you've already been in there numerous times.

Let me get this straight...........................
Your cardiologist just read the results from the echo that was performed from another Dr.s office, so why are they charging you for the test? I think your Dr. should have just read the test for free not for $400.00. That sounds totally rediculous. I definitely would say something about that for sure. Please let men know what happens

O.K., I'm not even sure if I'm interpreting this right, but it shows three different charges...one for a doppler echocardiogram/$153.00, one for echocardiogram interp-offsite/$316.00 and one for doppler color flow VEL mapping/$188.70. My insurance paid $59.25 and $59.49 for this claim??? Now I owe (on top of the $400.00 I still owe my hospital here for the same echo) a $459.92 deductible and a $79.74 co-pay (and I never even got a real result). Do I write a letter to administation of the hospital here, at my cardio's office or neither? I don't understand all of this and am not going for any more tests until this is all figured out!
