Hi everyone. I was just wondering something about my BP and HR. Lately I have been waking up with a pounding heart in my chest/throat. I have been having extremely bizarre dreams the last few nights and last night I slept horribly because my dreams kept waking me up, not to mention I was extremely hot and sticky because it was warm in our room. I usually take my BP and HR in the morning but I take it after getting out of bed, once I'm downstairs.

Is this a normal range for morning measurements? BP 96/62 and HR around 85, sometimes higher? Shouldn't my HR be lower in the morning? It does tend to trend downwards the more active I get during the day. I just think it's weird that it's higher in the morning. What does this mean? I am still not taking a BB but thinking about it since I've been waking up with a higher pulse rate and a racing heart. However, I'm a little concerned about my BP already being in the lowish range because won't my BB lower it even more? Just curious.

Thanks!

Emily

both readings are the envy of the neighborhood. All "within the range of normal."

Dr. Fett, I guess my question is shouldn't my heart rate be lower in the morning than it is during the day? I find that it tends to be in the upper 80s, sometimes even up towards 100 (yesterday one reading was 109 but then back down about a minute later) and then as the day progresses, it will drop into the 70s, sometimes even 60s. I guess I figured from resting and sleeping that it would be lower in the morning and higher during the day when I'm active and moving around? Just curious about all this.

Thanks!

Emily
